CALL to ACTIONThis is important--we truly need your help. Below is a link to a very brief survey. Here's what's happening...
As you may have seen last week, we told you that May 7 was not a "hard"
deadline for filing comments in the FCC's "Future of Media"
inquiry. With the FCC's full knowledge and cooperation, the
Alliance will be filing on May 21st, and so with your help, we'll be
able to strengthen our case of why PEG access must be saved and
expanded with more "field data."
This is where you come in.
WE NEED YOUR HELP. Even if we've already heard from you via our
recent data collection or by email, please fill out this very brief
online survey:
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/VDP5JPZ
We have some data and stories that measure the impact PEG access has on
America's communities, and data and stories about how PEG access
centers have struggled with decreased funding, state legislation, cable
operator actions, the economy and other factors. It is imperative
that we get answers from as many PEG providers as possible - in fact,
this is the best opportunity we've ever had to make our case.
If you have not yet filed, there is still time to do so, and when you
do, send your comments to us. If you have already filed, you may
submit additional documentation. For example, take a look at some
of the materials submitted by the Alliance for Communications Democracy
(pdf): Introduction and Policy Recommendations; Paper by Laura R.
Linder, Ph.D. and Gary Kenton, M.A.; Attachment A: Aggregate Date on
Cable Viewers; Attachment B: Representative Sample of Organizations
Using PEG Access .
A list of the organizations that use your channels, newspaper accounts
of particular programs, channel users, or anything showing community
impacts would be especially useful.
Thank you for helping, and for all you do for your community.
In Alliance,
Greg EplerWood
Managing Director
